At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can develop new skills, build confidence, and explore creativity. What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school cooking class (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will guide youth through simple, beginner-friendly recipes, promote healthy eating habits, and create a fun, hands-on learning experience. No professional cooking experience is required—just a passion for teaching and working with kids. - Sep 1 – Dec 31Volunteers Needed for Youth Vault Financial Literacy Program with Advance the FaithAdvance the Faith is in need of FGCU students to serve at the Vault Financial Literacy Program that they run on a monthly basis at Oasis Youth Shelter. An emergency shelter for youth in crisis situations or who have recently been removed from an unsafe environment to be placed in foster care. Their faith-based program provides lessons and activities to teach basic financial literacy skills to empower high school students as they prepare for independent living. Volunteers assist staff with the program through set up, keeping track of participation points, assisting students, and helping teach lessons, if desired. Volunteers may select dates that they are available, as they do not have to attend all of the 5 sessions per month. Background checks are required. This program is run on a monthly basis of 5 sessions per month on Mondays and Wednesdays (dates vary each month on which 5 days). Volunteers are needed from 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM. - Sep 22:00 PMCash Cab: AlcoholHitch a ride on our famous yellow golf cart! If you are on main campus, we will pick you up and give you a ride to your destination within the main perimeter of campus. On your way to class or back to your room, we will ask you trivia questions related to health and wellness! The first 20 passengers will receive $5 Eagle Dollars on their Eagle Account within 1-3 business days, which can be used for student printers, laundry facilities, vending machines, dining locations. Passengers must sign a form in order to receive the $5 in their Eagle Account.
