The Cancer Alliance Network is a local non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to local cancer patients during their treatment. We have a high school volunteer program called KidsCAN. This program is made up of local high school students who help fundraise for our organization as well as seek donations of money and items to help provide Thanksgiving meals to local cancer families, host a holiday party with gifts, games, food, etc. for local cancer families, help host a family staycation for local cancer families, and many other activities during the school year.   We are looking for one or two students on the path to becoming teachers to help with communication and management of this program. This volunteer opportunity requires a commitment to help throughout the Lee and Collier county school year for 2025-2026. Volunteers will be required to attend regular KidsCAN meetings and help with notes and sending a recap to students, as well as helping organize donation drives and fundraisers along with students, and participating in volunteer opportunities with KidsCAN students. Some meetings will be available virtually, but most of the work will be required in-person. The majority of the in-person time will be at our Bonita Springs office (3384 Woods Edge Circle, Suite 102 Bonita Springs, FL 34134). There are a few instances where the volunteer address will also be Naples, Estero, and Fort Myers.   Times will be scheduled in advance but determined by the date of events. We will work with schedules as much as possible but flexibility and dedication are a must on the part of volunteers. Dates, times, and shifts will vary. Part of our mission statement is collaborating with our students as well as our community. We want to complete a fundraiser and donate the proceeds to a local organization so students can become aware of how to protect the environment and the animals in it, specifically turtles. We want to teach the students the effect the environment has on the turtle population and how to protect them. The objective is to teach the students about being an activist for a cause while integrating in science and the environment.    Flexible assignment and hours (Monday through Friday). As an oasis in Bonita Springs that serves generational audiences, The Wonder Gardens inspires and provides transformative experiences of wonder in the natural world. We are a historic botanical garden and zoological park that provides long term nurturing homes for exotic and local wildlife.   Education Table volunteers will staff a table near a designated animal habitat or garden venue, greeting guests and providing information and/or simple activities for public visitors. Areas of choice include parrots, alligators, flamingos, orchids, pollinators, and more. Talking points, objects of interest, and activity supplies are provided. Must be comfortable speaking with guests of all ages, abilities, and cultures.   Flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, 7 days/week, beginning in September. Weekly or biweekly commitment. A Community Partnership School utilizes four pillars- expanded learning, wellness supports, family and community engagement, and collaborative leadership- to focus its efforts in addressing barriers to success such as hunger, poverty, lack of access to adequate health care, lack of educational supports, and other challenges the community faces, as identified by the community. Through eliminating these barriers to resources for students, staff, families, and the community, the Community Partnership Schools’ goal is to increase the chances of student success and well-being. Volunteers will have a unique opportunity to contribute to programming through hands on experiences with students, staff, and the community, which supports students from undeserved communities, creating a meaningful and lasting impact on their lives. The Cypress Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America would like to focus our energy on reaching out to and engaging youth in our organization. The Lee County Homeless Coalition's Legislative Advocacy Committee is a dedicated group of individuals working to stay informed about policies that impact the homeless community. We are currently focused on House Bill 1365, a law that has significant implications for how our state addresses homelessness and housing issues.   Joining our committee gives you the opportunity to research legislation, engage with elected officials, and advocate for more compassionate and effective solutions. Fort Myers Middle School, A Community Partnership School, partnered with United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, is seeking passionate FGCU students to serve as mentors and academic tutors for Fort Myers Middle School students enrolled in our Before and Afterschool Program, led by the YMCA of Southwest Florida. FGCU volunteers will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects—particularly science and reading—while also serving as positive role models. In addition to academic support, volunteers will assist with a variety of enrichment activities, including student-led clubs, arts and crafts, sports, and games. These structured stations are designed to promote creativity, collaboration, and confidence among students. Volunteers will work closely with YMCA staff to ensure programming is inclusive, engaging, and aligned with the developmental needs of middle schoolers. This is a valuable opportunity for FGCU students to gain hands-on experience in youth mentorship, education, and community engagement—while making a lasting impact on our Fort Myers Middle School students.   Volunteers are needed from August 11th 2025-May 22nd 2026. There are two shifts available each day.
