Men's and women's cross country set to compete at NCAA South Regionals

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men's and women's cross country programs will head to Tallahassee for the 2024 NCAA South Regional Meet on Friday morning. The race is hosted by the Florida State and will take place at the Apalachee Regional Park.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men's and women's cross country programs will head to Tallahassee for the 2024 NCAA South Regional Meet on Friday morning. The race is hosted by Florida State University and will take place at the Apalachee Regional Park.

The women's 6K will begin at 8:30 a.m., while the men's 10K will start at 9:30 a.m. On the women's side, 34 teams featuring 393 student-athletes will be competing, while on the men's side, 30 teams with 394 racers will toe the starting line.

The Eagles are coming off an eighth-place finish for the men at the Atlantic Sun Conference championships in Jacksonville, Florida. Bramwell Havi produced the eighth-best 8k time in program history. Last season, he set a new program record time of 30:38.8.

On the women's side, Karley Piers produced the third-best time in program history last November, crossing the line in 20:46.2 and finishing in 87th place.

Piers is coming off a 10th-place finish, a new FGCU 5K record and personal-best time of 17:17.2 at the ASUN Championship. Newcomer Alise Petrova ran a new freshman record for the Eagles and was named ASUN Freshman of the Year for her performance at the championship.
