Share Your Skills – Teach Kids to Cook at The Salvation Army Youth Center

Monday, November 3, 2025 3:00–5:00 PM
  • Location
    The Salvation Army Collier County
  • Description

The Salvation Army of Collier County Youth Center is seeking FGCU students to volunteer as culinary instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can develop new skills, build confidence, and explore creativity.

    What We Need:
FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school cooking class (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will guide youth through simple, beginner-friendly recipes, promote healthy eating habits, and create a fun, hands-on learning experience. No professional cooking experience is required—just a passion for teaching and working with kids.

Mondays on the following dates from 4:00pm-5:00pm: September 1st, September 22nd, October 13th, and November 3rd

Interested FGCU students should email Megan Francis at megan.francis@uss.salvationarmy.org with the subject line "FGCU Culinary Instructor – Youth Center". Please include in your email:

    - Availability

    - Brief description of your cooking experience or interest
