Friday, May 9, 2025 12:00 PM – Monday, June 9, 2025 1:00 PM
  • Location
18301 Trifecta Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33967
  • Description
We have a new resident at Canterfield of Fort Myers (18301 Trifecta LaneFort Myers, FL 33967). She is very talkative, but talks primarily in word salad. We are looking for someone who would enjoy spending an hour every week as a companion for her. This service-learning opportunity will give you a background educational lesson in Alzheimer's over Zoom before you begin as a companion. We will provide you with a life profile for your partner in the community, which will include examples on what they would enjoy doing with you. There will be a zoom check-in after the first month, and every other month after that based on continuing education needs. Stay for 1-2 hours every week whenever you are available and is a good time for the resident. You will be provided with times the resident is typically in activities or has visitors. We would love to work with psych majors or people in the health care industry.   Please email elizabeth@support.network if you are interested in the opportunity. Alzheimer's Support Network   Students who complete this event gain skills in Oral/Written Communications, Teamwork/Collaboration, Professionalism/Work Ethic.
