Event: Bunche Beach Cleanup- Honoring 2 Year Anniversary of Hurricane IanDate: September 28, 2024Time: 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm Location: Bunche Beach Preserve - 18201 John Morris Rd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33908 What To Bring: Reuseable water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. We suggest a hat and sunglasses. What We Provide: All tools needed, sunblock, water refill jug, a designated team members who take pictures and ensure safety, and finally Pizza during sunset.Safety Guidelines: Drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed. Set a timer to come back at set time. Watch out for sharp objects, glass, and wildlife. Avoid heavy lifting and work with a buddy at all times. Do not touch hazardous materials such as needles or chemicals. Report heavy items to our designated team member.Post Cleanup: Weigh your buckets and join the group photo at 7:15 pm. Why Help: Beach cleanups are a last line of defense to prevent debris from causing harm to our oceans, to wildlife, to our coastal economies, and even beach-goers. This is light work although the day will be hot, & the bugs will be out. I recommend bringing closed-toed shoes, preferably boots, pants, and long sleeves to defend from mosquitos. Gloves if you have any. You will be given plenty of water breaks & time to cool off. Photo Release: In exchange for the University allowing me to participate in the Activity, I give the University the right and my permission to record my participation and appearance on digital, or electronic recordings, videotape, audiotape, film, photography or any other medium and to use my name, likeness, voice and biographical information in connection with these recordings. The University may exhibit or distribute all or any part of these recordings for any educational or promotional purpose, which the University and its employees deem appropriate. All such recordings shall be  the University’s property. Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risks: In exchange for the University making arrangements for, permitting my participating in Compost program at the FGCU Food Forest, I hereby assume all risks of my participation in the Activity. Risks include, but are not limited to, risks of participation in the various components of the Activity, and all risks related to any physical or other condition from which I might suffer. I acknowledge that the University does not provide personal accident/health insurance or medical personnel for myself. I authorize the FGCU staff to perform on site emergency first aid. I authorize FGCU staff to contact local emergency medical care services in the event of a medical emergency. I assume personal and financial responsibility for any medical care and treatment I may require as the result of participating in the Activity. I acknowledge that this Release applies to all medical care and treatment that is provided or obtained by the University as a result of my participation in the Activity. In exchange for the University allowing me to participate in the Activity and having reviewed and agreed to all acknowledgements listed in this Release and Waiver, I, on behalf of my family, heirs, beneficiaries, and personal representatives agree to assume all the risks and responsibilities of my participating in the Activity.
