Event: Bunche Beach Cleanup- Honoring 2 Year Anniversary of Hurricane IanDate: September 28, 2024Time: 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm Location: Bunche Beach Preserve - 18201 John Morris Rd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33908 What To Bring: Reuseable water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. We suggest a hat and sunglasses. What We Provide: All tools needed, sunblock, water refill jug, a designated team members who take pictures and ensure safety, and finally Pizza during sunset.Safety Guidelines: Drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed. Set a timer to come back at set time. Watch out for sharp objects, glass, and wildlife. Avoid heavy lifting and work with a buddy at all times. Do not touch hazardous materials such as needles or chemicals. Report heavy items to our designated team member.Post Cleanup: Weigh your buckets and join the group photo at 7:15 pm. Why Help: Beach cleanups are a last line of defense to prevent debris from causing harm to our oceans, to wildlife, to our coastal economies, and even beach-goers. I acknowledge that the University does not provide personal accident/health insurance or medical personnel for myself. I authorize the FGCU staff to perform on site emergency first aid. I authorize FGCU staff to contact local emergency medical care services in the event of a medical emergency. I assume personal and financial responsibility for any medical care and treatment I may require as the result of participating in the Activity. I acknowledge that this Release applies to all medical care and treatment that is provided or obtained by the University as a result of my participation in the Activity. The Salvation Army of Collier County Fran Cohen Youth Center is seeking enthusiastic FGCU students to volunteer as dance instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can explore new skills, build confidence, and grow creatively. What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school dance session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will plan and teach beginner-friendly routines, encourage participation, and create a fun and engaging atmosphere. All styles of dance are welcome, and no professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with kids and sharing the joy of movement.
