Event: Bloomingful Community Garden Maintenance Day
Date & Time: 9/16/2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PMLocation: Gulf Coast Medical Center (13681 Doctors Way, Fort Myers, FL 33912)   Join us for at Bloomingful Community Garden Maintenance Day as we plant and care for the garden located in Fort Myers, FL.   Our community garden is in need of some TLC, and we’ll be planting and weeding to help it thrive. Be prepared to get your hands dirty! Please wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and bring a refillable water bottle. We’ll provide all the necessary tools, plus snacks and water—just bring your energy and enthusiasm!   Directions: Bloomingful Community Garden is located in the rear of Gulf Coast Medical Center. Once you enter the campus from Daniels Parkway, follow the red directional signs by taking a right onto Doctors Way. With a dedicated team of volunteers, board of directors and staff, Community Cooperative stays committed to our core responsibility to collect and distribute resources through a strong and viable network of community partners. Through collaboration and ongoing education, Community Cooperative supports and strengthens those whose lives have been affected by hunger and homelessness, ensuring that they have access to the resources necessary to transform their lives with dignity.   In order to make the Meals on Wheels program run smoothly, they are in need of volunteers to assist with packing grocery bags for their clients. These grocery bags help provide food security to our most vulnerable neighbors—the medically homebound—in between their regular meal deliveries. 🐾 Distractions on the Playground Date & Time: Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM 📍 Location: Gulf Coast Playground (behind Ron Jon Surf Shop & south of Bass Pro Shop, 10040 Gulf Center Drive) Details: Volunteers will play, shout, and run around like kids again to help Dogs Inc. train dogs to ignore playground distractions. Volunteers will also handle dogs to help them get used to strangers. 👥 Volunteers Needed: 4   🐶 Shopping Distractions Training Date & Time: Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM 📍 Location: Cape Coral Target (2430 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral) Details: Be a distraction while dogs train to focus in a real-world shopping environment. Activities include dropping items, making noise, and trying to get the dog's attention while they stay focused. 👥 Volunteers Needed: 4   ⚽ Soccer, Basketball & Snack Distractions Date & Time: Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 6:00 – 7:30 PM 📍 Location: Fort Myers Library (2450 First Street, outside main entrance) Details: Bring a soccer ball and basketball to play near the dogs. Volunteers will also sit and snack around the dogs to help with distraction training. 👥 Volunteers Needed: 6   🎃 Halloween Parade with Dogs Inc. Date & Time: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM 📍 Location: Meet in costume outside Fort Myers Library (2450 First Street) Details: Dress up and walk with the dogs in the Halloween Parade downtown. LifeWise Academy offers Gospel education to public school students during school hours, with community support and parental permission! They are looking for classroom volunteers who can serve during the school year in our small to medium-sized classes. Volunteers will assist in 50-minute classes for grades 3-5 and will help teachers by: supporting students, assisting teachers in creating engaging and fun classrooms, and keeping students safe while crossing the road between Villas Elementary and the LifeWise program site.   This opportunity will begin on September 18th and continue every Thursday until the end of the school year.    If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to sign up, click here!   Students who complete this event gain skills in Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Teamwork/Collaboration, and Professionalism/Work Ethic.
