Bowditch Beach is a hidden gem near Fort Myers — quieter than most local beaches and offering views of Sanibel Island! This beach allows you to walk through trails with mangroves, making it the perfect place to enjoy nature while making a positive impact. With donor and volunteer support, we will continue to advance our work and provide support and hope to millions. Dinner is provided! Volunteers will serve in one or more of the following roles during the fundraising gala: Greeter ▪ Description: Greet all guests as they arrive, answer their questions, and provide direction.▪ Qualifications: Upbeat attitude and a warm, approachable personality. Registration/Checkout Attendant ▪ Description: Check in guests and assist through the registration process, answer questions,and report on any issues. At the end of the night, compute purchases for winning bidders,operate software to keep the live and silent auctions updated throughout the evening.▪ Qualifications: Computer skills, database software experience preferred, but not required.A fun upbeat attitude, with a winning smile and strong organizational skills. Silent Auction Attendant ▪ Description: Set up silent auction packages, assist bidders, report on bidding status, andassist guests with checking-out. Deliver auction items to winning bidders, may includetransporting items to their car.▪ Qualifications: A desire to help others make exciting purchases. Great people skills and abilityto lift 40 pounds. Revenue Enhancer/Live Auction Attendant ▪ Description: Engage guests and explain the exciting opportunities at the event. Jump into theaction during our exciting live auction by assisting the auctioneer with spotting bids.▪ Qualifications: A good eye, a clear voice, great people skills and comfortable approachingguests. Students will be trained and led by our Volunteer Lead who has served the event for three years. Students will engage in leadership and service activities that enable them to further develop and enhance their leadership abilities, while also making a significant contribution in the American Cancer Society's effort to support cancer patients and their caregivers, continue lifesaving research, and make progress in the fight against cancer. Volunteers are asked to serve the entire time (3:30 PM-11:30 PM) For attire, a t-shirt will be provided to pair with a skirt or pants, as well as any cowboy boots, hats, or anycountry flair! Denim jackets/dresses are also okay, but please no blue jeans (black or white jeans areacceptable). We recommend you wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
