Assist in preparing warm and well balanced meals for our community through our soup kitchen shift. The soup kitchen will open from 10:30 AM to 12 PM and then we have a family meal. Family meal takes place from 12:20-12:50 in Sam's Community Café and Kitchen and invites all Community Cooperative Staff & Volunteers to share a meal together. Directions Upon Arrival: Please enter the gate at the side entrance next to a sign on the wall that says Welcome. If the gate is locked there is a doorbell on the wall inside of the gate on the left. The kitchen door is the first on the left and see a kitchen staff member or volunteer for an assignment. If this is your first shift please ask for a tour. If you would like a tour of the whole facility please contact Kate/ Brooke to set that up at Brooke@Communitycooperative.com or Kater@communitycooperative.com. Clients can choose groceries from an array of fresh, frozen and dried goods. Volunteers help set up tables & tents, distribute groceries to clients & explaining how much of each product we have available, and may help clients pack their vehicles. Our mobile hot food program allows us to nourish our neighbors as they shop by providing a full balanced, hot meal. Mobile Food Pantries are on a consistent monthly schedule( such as third wednesday of the month.) FGCU students have the opportunity to get involved with “Mind the Gaps” Workshops—regional events designed to identify and address critical gaps in the Florida Wildlife Corridor.
