Help us prepare Thanksgiving stuffing kits so families in our community don’t go without a holiday meal. Note for younger volunteers: Volunteers under 16 won’t be handling bread cutting or kitchen tools, but we’ll have plenty of fun and important jobs like assembling spice packets, packaging stuffing, and cutting ribbon. EventsπΎ Distractions on the Playground Date & Time: Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM π Location: Gulf Coast Playground (behind Ron Jon Surf Shop & south of Bass Pro Shop, 10040 Gulf Center Drive) Details: Volunteers will play, shout, and run around like kids again to help Dogs Inc. train dogs to ignore playground distractions. Volunteers will also handle dogs to help them get used to strangers. π₯ Volunteers Needed: 4 πΆ Shopping Distractions Training Date & Time: Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM π Location: Cape Coral Target (2430 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral) Details: Be a distraction while dogs train to focus in a real-world shopping environment. Activities include dropping items, making noise, and trying to get the dog's attention while they stay focused. π₯ Volunteers Needed: 4 β½ Soccer, Basketball & Snack Distractions Date & Time: Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 6:00 – 7:30 PM π Location: Fort Myers Library (2450 First Street, outside main entrance) Details: Bring a soccer ball and basketball to play near the dogs. Volunteers will also sit and snack around the dogs to help with distraction training. π₯ Volunteers Needed: 6 π Halloween Parade with Dogs Inc. Date & Time: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM π Location: Meet in costume outside Fort Myers Library (2450 First Street) Details: Dress up and walk with the dogs in the Halloween Parade downtown. Help introduce the group to the public and act as fun distractions. π₯ Volunteers Needed: 4 π Dog Photos with Santa – Volunteer Distractions Date & Time: Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 6:00–7:30 PM π Location: Bass Pro Shop, 10040 Gulf Center Drive (Gulf Coast Mall), Fort Myers Details: Volunteers will help keep the dogs focused during their Santa photo sessions by leading them through the store and acting as distractions. π₯ Volunteers Needed: 4 If you're interested in this opportunity and would like to sign up, please contact Sandra Terranova at sjterranova@sbcglobal.net.
