Eagles set for 2025 season opener in Statesboro
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University's women's golf team will begin its Fall 2025 season this Monday in Statesboro, Georgia as the Eagles take part in the Southern Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia Southern University. Scheduled for Sept. 8–9 at Forest Heights Golf Club, the Eagles will be one of 13 teams taking part in the tournament.
In the 2024–25 season, the Eagles won the conference tournament and competed in the NCAA Lubbock Regional, marking the second time in program history they've advanced to postseason play. The team finished ninth overall at the regional, with returning player Lousiane Gauthier leading the charge and finishing fourth individually.
Throughout the season, FGCU demonstrated consistent performance, highlighted by first-place finishes at the Fall Invitational, Coastal Classic, and Eagle Ridge Open. Their consistent top-tier performances marked one of the program's most successful seasons to date.
The 2024–25 season also saw the Eagles achieve a program-record low scoring average of 295.3, underscoring the team's growth and development under Coach Shannon Sykora's leadership. With a strong roster, FGCU women's golf looks to build upon its recent success in the upcoming season.
After the conclusion of this tournament, the Eagles head to the Inverness Invitational in Toledo, Ohio, for a two-day tournament Sept. 15-16.
