Gauthier rebounds with solid score at NCAA Championship
Lousiane Gauthier bounced back Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship in Carlsbad, California, playing her final 12 holes in even par en route to a 76 on the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort.
After seven pars and two doubles on her first nine, Gauthier made her first birdie of the day on No. 2, her 11th hole of the round. It marked the second consecutive day that the junior birdied the hole.
Friday's round came undone with a tough stretch from Nos. 6 to 8 that Gauthier played in 9-over. Saturday, Gauthier turned the tables with pars on Nos. 6 and 8 and a lone bogey on No. 7, which played as the third-most difficult hole for all 156 golfers in the round.
The Uruguayan will have one more round to compete and attempt to move up the leaderboard. The top nine individuals that are not among the 15 teams that will advance after the cut will play the final round Monday. Gauthier will tee off of No. 10 at 5:02 p.m. Eastern Time (2:02 p.m. local) Sunday.
