Ackley wins two National Championships
Izzy Ackley won two national championships and set a new school record in the 50 fly and meet record in the 50 back and 100 back while Cassie Bauer set a new school record in the 100 IM at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships.
"I'm very proud of these women, not only for qualifying for a national meet, but committing to our vision of representing the Green and Blue on the national stage," FGCU head coach Dave Rollins said. "Best times, meet records and school records are a heck of a way to finish!"
The three-day event featured teams from all around the country. Ackley started the meet with a win in the 50 back by over half a second. On the same day, she came back and posted a new school record in the 50 fly. Never satisfied, Ackley came back on the second day to win the 100 back, setting the meet record, and set the meet record in the 50 back with her split in the 200 medley relay.
The final day was highlighted by the 100 IM school record being rewritten twice. Ackley swam the 100 IM in 55.78 before Bauer came up in the A-Final to take back to school record at 55.71.
Overall, the Green and Blue ended their season 10 finals times, five new top 10 times including two school records and two meet records.
