Four Eagles named to All-ASUN teams
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Avery Viancos was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference first team while Olivia Black, Emily Chiarella and Allison Sparkman were on the second team. This is second time Viancos and Sparkman have been named to an All-ASUN team.
Viancos is first team All-ASUN after getting the second team nod last season. Viancos played every out this season for the Eagles. Her 30 steals on the season are 11 more than any non-FGCU player in the ASUN and tied for 22nd in the country. Viancos led FGCU in hits (59), triples (4) and total bases (74) while being top three in batting average (.339), slugging (.425), OBP (.389), OPS (.814), runs (32), doubles (4) and RBI (25).
Sparkman moves up one team to the second team after being a third team selection and unanimous All-Freshman team selection in 2024. Sparkman led the Eagles in every pitching stat with a 2.35 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 18 wins, 31 games started, 14 complete games, six shutouts, 169.2 innings pitched and a .222 opponent batting average. Sparkman is the only player in FGCU's DI history to have both her freshman and sophomore season in the top 10 of opponent batting average.
Black is on the All-ASUN team for the first time in her career. Black started every game in left field for the Green and Blue. Her 38 steals are the most in the ASUN, double any non-FGCU player, and currently put her at ninth in the nation. It is also the most any FGCU player in the school's DI era. In conference play black was top 10 in the ASUN in runs scored (25, first), triples (4, first), stolen bases (28, first), hits (32, fifth), batting average (.432, fifth) and on base percentage (.494, 10th). Black had nine more stolen bases in conference play than any ASUN player had all year; she more than doubles the stolen base output of any non-FGCU player in ASUN play.
Black led FGCU in OPS (.826), runs (43), triples (4), slugging percentage (.436) and stolen bases (38). In conference play, Black led the team in batting average (.432), OPS (1.048), runs (25), hits (32), triples (4), total bases (41), slugging percentage (.554), walks (10), on base percentage (.494) and steals (28).
Chiarella joins the All-ASUN ranks after being on the All-Freshman team in 2023. Chiarella is third in the ASUN in stolen bases with 24, five more than any non-FGCU player. Chiarella led the team in batting average (.346) while being top three in runs (29), hits (56), total bases (59) and stolen bases (24). In conference play, Chiarella was top three on the team in batting average (.368), runs (15) and hits (28).
