Softball's season ends at conference
Oxford, Ala. - Florida Gulf Coast University softball saw its season end in the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament after losing two games on Thursday to Eastern Kentucky, 2-1, and Austin Peay, 5-4.
The Eagles outhit their opponents in both games on the day but their opponents were able to muster one more run in each outing to end FGCU's season.
The first game saw fantastic pitching lead FGCU as Allison Sparkman and Victoria Ash took a combined no hitter into the 6th inning before the Colonels managed to put together enough to bring one more run home.
Emily Chiarella recorded her second three-hit game of the tournament and Avery Viancos notched another multi-hit game against EKU in the 2-1 loss.
FGCU had to bounce back about three hours later to face a rested Austin Peay squad.
The Green and Blue got out first against the Governors with a two-run double in the fourth by Tiffany Meek and RBI singles from Avery Viancos and Sophie Wylie in the fifth to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
Austin Peay answered with a five run sixth inning which FGCU could not answer to in the top of the seventh, ending FGCU's season in the 5-4 defeat.
