Eagles close season at Amherst Regional
Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf brought a close to its 2024-25 season at the Amherst Regional in Amherst, Virginia Wednesday with the Eagles finishing in 11th place.
FGCU returned to the course Wednesday to complete the final round after rain brought an early end to play Tuesday. Sitting in fifth as a team entering the final round, FGCU was unable to maintain positive momentum from Monday into the stops and starts of Tuesday and Wednesday while other teams began to take advantage of the soft course conditions.
Tom Scullion had the best final round for FGCU, carding a 1-over 71 to lead the pack. Sebastian Gamboa matched his second round score with a 4-over 74. Nolan Harper was as high as second on the individual leaderboard, but he would finish with a 5-over 75 in the third round. Brett Moore had FGCU's fourth counting score with a 6-over 76. Christian Figueredo had his best round of the event in the third round as he carded a 77.
Scullion finished as the high Eagle on the leaderboard, capturing a tie for 20th with an aggregate score of 211. Harper finished in a tie for 24th at 212.
The Eagles close the season as the second program in FGCU history to earn an at-large bid to NCAA postseason play in the school's D-I history, following in the footsteps of the 2022 men's golf program which finished 12th at the Columbus Regional. Each time has been under the direction of head coach Andrew Danna.
