Amherst Regional moved up, Eagles to start play Sunday
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Due to expected heavy rain Monday and Tuesday, the NCAA has moved the start of play in the NCAA Men's Golf Amherst Regional to Sunday afternoon at Poplar Ridge Golf Club in Amherst, Virginia.
Florida Gulf Coast University will now tee off at 3:10 p.m. Sunday on No. 10.
Each team will have a practice round beginning at 8:30 a.m., with players coming off the course at 1 p.m. The first round will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Nos. 1 and 10.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals who will compete in the finals. The top five teams and the highest-finishing individual not on an advancing team from each regional will move on to the championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 23–28.
FGCU, the No. 10 seed in the regional, will be paired with Kent State and Princeton for the first round.
The Eagles received an at-large bid — the second in program history — marking just the second time FGCU will compete in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship as a team. FGCU has previously sent individual players in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2021 and 2024.
The program earned its first at-large bid in 2022 and placed 12th at the Columbus Regional. FGCU men's golf is the only team in school history to earn two at-large bids for NCAA postseason play, both under head coach Andrew Danna.
FGCU enters the Amherst Regional ranked No. 56 nationally with an 80-36-4 record. The team finished third at the ASUN Championship and has climbed as high as No. 48 this season, with an adjusted scoring average of 283.7 per round.
The Eagles posted six top-three finishes this season, including three runner-up performances. Five of those top-three finishes came in the spring. FGCU placed second at the Sea Best Invitational and earned back-to-back runner-up finishes at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island and the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate. The team also finished third at the ASUN Championship, the Rod Myers Invitational and the Gators Invitational.
Fort Myers is home to two of the ASUN's top four golfers: freshmen Nolan Harper and Brett Moore, ranked third and fourth, respectively. Harper is averaging 71.3 per round, with one win at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate and three top-three finishes.
Moore broke the program record for lowest 18-hole round with a 63. He is averaging 71.4 and has two top-three finishes. Sophomore Sebastian Gamboa, an ASUN All-Tournament selection, tied for second at the ASUN Championship and holds a team-best 71.0 average.

- Brett Moore — 3:21 p.m.
- Nolan Harper — 3:32 p.m.
