Volunteers Needed as Counselors at MDA Summer Camp

- DescriptionMuscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. For over 70 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of our families. MDA's mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives. As an MDA Summer Camp volunteer, you will be by a campers’ sides day and night as you participate in adaptive camp experiences, games, dances, mealtime and more, during the weeklong, overnight program. Volunteers work with campers, providing around-the-clock care and support with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, and more. Counselors meet the daily needs of each child and provide emotional support while facilitating friendships and serving as role models. Volunteering at MDA Summer Camp will also: Provide life-changing experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Enrich your life & inspire you in new ways. Boost your resume with unique, real-world experience. Earn up to 144 verified volunteer hours. Requirements for volunteers: At least 17 years old. Of sufficient ability to lift and care for campers and assist with campers' personal care. Must be able to independently lift 25 pounds. Commit to attending the entire week of MDA Summer Camp. Completed online application through UltraCamp system. Criminal Background Check through Sterling Volunteers. Interview with MDA Staff. Two Professional References. Provide record of physical examination completed within 12 months of camp and a current immunization record.
