- DescriptionThe Bonita Springs YMCA is an inclusive, nonprofit organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Every day, the Y strengthens communities for kids, adults, seniors and families with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal nourish and encourage. It's how we help communities and the "us" who live in them find the power of their full potential. YMCA of Southwest Florida offers many opportunities to volunteer. People can have fun, give back and make a difference in their community. You can choose to volunteer at special events or to work with members and participants on a regular basis. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women, and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. We like to match potential volunteers to a meaningful experience. If there is an activity you are interested in, we will work with you to find an opportunity that matches your interest and meets the needs of the Y. The YMCA of Southwest Florida has created a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including: Program Volunteers: Read to children in our Kids Zone, greet members at the membership services desk, coach one of our youth sports teams and more. Special Event Volunteers: In small groups or as individuals these volunteers perform tasks during a special event such as 5k races, Healthy Kids Day, or a golf tournament.
