- Jun 13–20Volunteers Needed for Mission Trip to Cat Island, Bahamas with Advance the FaithAdvance the Faith is seeking students to come serve with them on their annual summer mission trip to Cat Island, Bahamas to serve children. Every year, we host a camp for the children & youth in foster care from the Old Bight Mission Home on Cat Island, Bahamas. This camp consists of various activities to reinforce life-skills, personal-success skills, team-building, and faith-based content. Mission team members can help with leading activities, preaching messages, leading worship and devotionals, leading games, and preparing meals. We would get to know you, your gifts, your passions, and your personality to explore what areas you want to serve in on the trip! FGCU Trip Participants earn 40 Service-Learning Hours Trip Cost: $950 plus airfare cost (payments are due in increments) All participants are required to complete a trip application, background check, zoom training and have a passport that is valid through January 2026. - Jun 16–20"Developing Machine Learning Solutions Using AI" (Training)Each training runs for 8-10 hours over the span of two or five consecutive days where each session builds upon the last, providing in-depth exploration of specific topics. These intensive learning experiences combine theoretical foundations with practical applications, allowing participants to develop comprehensive understanding and skills. Each participant must bring their own laptop to be able to develop and apply the applications presented. Instructor: Dr. Vinod Ahuja Course Description:In this advanced training, participants will learn to design and implement machine learning solutions using modern AI platforms. They will go from data preprocessing to model evaluation and deployment through a guided project. - Jun 162:30 PM*Ongoing* *On-Campus* Volunteers Needed to Assist the Special Olympics as a Play Pal!This is an innovative sports play program for children ages 2-7 with intellectual disabilities and their peers, designed to introduce them into the world of sports. The benefits to this program have been proven worldwide. First and foremost, these activities will help the children improve physically, cognitively and socially. This program will also raise awareness of the Special Olympics program and serve as an introduction to the resources and support available within Special Olympics Florida families, agencies and schools. Volunteers will act as play pals for children with/without disabilities for children between the ages of 2-7. The volunteers will need to be their 30 minutes before the start of the session for debrief, training and overview of the day. Volunteers will also need to stay 30 minutes after the session ends for clean up and reorganization. Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Wednesdays of June from 2:30-4:30 PM (2nd, 4th, 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, and 25th) Volunteers are asked to serve the entire time!
