Service Learning Opportunity for Makerpalooza with Southwest Florida Library Network

    Southwest Florida Library Network is looking for Florida Gulf Coast University students to volunteer at Makerpalooza and assist with attendee check-in and the tech playground. SWFLN is a non-profit organization that supports libraries across Southwest Florida by providing training, resources, and networking opportunities. Our mission is to empower academic, public, school, and special libraries with the latest tools, trends, and technology to better serve their communities. When?  Tuesday, May 20th, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Wednesday, May 21st, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Volunteers that commit to the full day will be provide with lunch.  Shifts: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.   What You’ll Do as a Volunteer: 🔹 Tech Playground Assistant – Start up and connect devices to the internet prior to start of event, help attendees explore and interact with the latest maker and STEAM technology, answer questions, and ensure a fun, hands-on experience. The Tech Playground is mostly self-directed activity stations but trouble-shooting assistance is appreciated. (No experience necessary, volunteers will have detailed instructions and training prior to the event starting.) 🔹 Check-in & Information Booth – Welcome guests, assist with event check-in, provide directions, and answer general questions throughout the day.   For more info and to sign up, please contact Amy-Jane McWilliam: (e) amy@swfln.org (p) 239.565.5687   Students who complete this event gain skills in Teamwork/Collaboration, Digital Technology, Professionalism/Work Ethic.
