Mentors / Tutors needed for Math Camp at Fort Myers Middle School with United Way

Monday, July 7, 2025 9:00 AM – Thursday, July 10, 2025 1:00 PM
  • Location
3050 Central Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33901
  • Description
A Community Partnership School is both a physical place, as well as a set of partnerships between a school and community resources. A Community Partnership School utilizes four pillars- expanded learning, wellness supports, family and community engagement, and collaborative leadership- to focus its efforts in addressing barriers to success such as hunger, poverty, lack of access to adequate health care, lack of educational supports, and other challenges the community faces, as identified by the community. Through eliminating these barriers to resources for students, staff, families, and the community, the Community Partnership Schools’ goal is to increase the chances of student success and well-being. Fort Myers Middle School is excited to host an upcoming four-day Math Camp and is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our students on campus. Your involvement can make a real difference—students benefit greatly from individual attention and encouragement, especially in building confidence and skills in math. In return, volunteers will not only earn service hours but also gain valuable hands-on experience working with students who truly need extra support. Whether you're passionate about education, exploring a career in teaching, or simply want to give back to the community, we’d love to have you join us in making this camp a success. Although this is a four-day camp, volunteers are not required to serve everyday. We encourage volunteers to sign up for the entire day's shift if possible.    Camp Dates will be from July 7th-10th from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM   If you are interested, students can email Felicitas Carrillo, Director, Fort Myers Middle School at felicitas@unitedwaylee.orgAfter the initial contact, we will have a conversation and solidify days and times.   Students who complete this event gain skills in Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Teamwork/Collaboration, Professionalism/Work Ethic. This aligns with the following Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (4). This aligns with the following Academic Majors: Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Studies, Mathematics, Statistics.Hosted by: Service-Learning OpportunitiesAdditional Information can be found at: https://getinvolved.fgcu.edu/event/11345538
