  • Location
Perform role onsite at FGCU facilities periodically; hybrid environment.
  • Description
Commute Connector is a program of the Florida Department of Transportation. We partner with Employers, Universities and Local Government Agencies (Economic development councils, Planning orgs, Chamber) to provide complimentary resources and consulting services to assist commuters across 12 counties. The Commuter Advocacy role will serve as a voice for FGCU’s commuter population, advocating for their needs while promoting transportation options in partnership with FDOT’s Commute Connector program. Working closely with Student Government and other campus stakeholders, the Commuter Advocacy role will identify common transportation barriers—such as parking, cost, time, or stress—and elevate these concerns to university and regional partners. They will help facilitate conversations at town halls or SG forums and support efforts to shape commuter-friendly solutions. Additionally, the Commuter Advocacy role will conduct short surveys or focus groups with students to gather insights and track participation in mobility programs, ensuring that student perspectives directly inform transportation planning and outreach. Please note the Commute Connector program manager will directly advise this role.
