We're All In! Our Path to Sustained Success
FGCU Eagles Family,
It seems that the only constant within intercollegiate athletics nowadays is change, and FGCU is committed to adapting and thriving in the new environment. The House vs. NCAA class action settlement is anticipated to be finalized in the coming weeks which will create a new NCAA model.
Capitalizing on Change
FGCU will participate in the new era of the NCAA, empowering the athletics department to be a part of the change within intercollegiate athletics. FGCU is uniquely situated in the evolving landscape to lay the blueprint for the path forward, specifically for non-football athletics departments. Now more than ever, FGCU needs to adapt and capitalize on this opportunity, and it will take every member of the FGCU community to help us achieve our aspirations to provide championship resources to our programs to compete on a national level.
With the anticipated approval of the House settlement, FGCU will be allowed to increase student-athlete scholarships and provide enhanced support to our student-athletes through initiatives such as revenue sharing. FGCU aims to pave the way forward for our programs to compete and succeed through the Path for Sustained Success.
With the launch of our Path for Sustained Success this past fall, FGCU Athletics has identified four key areas of impact:
- Student-Athlete Scholarships: Fully Fund Our 15 D1 Athletics Programs
- Student-Athlete Success & Wellness: Enhance the Student-Athlete Experience
- Facilities and Infrastructure: Create and Fund a Master Facility Plan
- Organizational Structure: Strengthen Department Staffing and Personnel
Strategic Partnerships Throughout SWFL
It is imperative that we continue to build on our community partnerships as well as our campus partners at FGCU. With the support of President Aysegul Timur and university leadership, the university is committed to FGCU Athletics through enhanced scholarship support, which increases student-athlete scholarships by 40% annually. We share this milestone to highlight the positive impact these changes are making on all 15 of our programs.
The FGCU Foundation is also a driving force in supporting the university and FGCU Athletics during this transformative period. Last month, the Foundation Board of Directors approved a matching gift campaign to support our Path for Sustained Success. Any major gift of $5,000 to $250,000, new Eagles Club membership or increased year-over-year Eagles Club gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the Foundation. This matching gift campaign offers a unique opportunity for individuals, families, corporate sponsors and nonprofit foundations to rally around Southwest Florida's hometown teams and amplify their contributions. Every dollar raised during this campaign will make a significant impact toward accelerating the growth of FGCU Athletics and demonstrate the enhanced collaboration taking place on campus.
Additionally, FGCU recently held its annual 24-hour fundraising campaign, Give Day. Athletics led the way with $160,000 generously donated towards our programs and department. The philanthropic support of our community makes a powerful statement about the belief in our mission and vision.
The Work Doesn't Stop There...
Our efforts to make an impact on the four key areas of the Path for Sustained Success have just begun. However, our progress can only be achieved through the continued generosity and support of our stakeholders. Your investment in FGCU's student-athletes is vital in helping us strive for excellence and creates a lasting impact on FGCU Athletics.
