FGCU unveils new look for Alico Arena court
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University unveiled a refreshed look for the main playing surface at Alico Arena on Friday morning, updating the court ahead of the upcoming athletic seasons.
The new design was created in-house by FGCU's University Marketing and Communications team, with design elements led by Donya Salman. The concept was approved by athletics leadership and implemented over the past two weeks.
Highlights of the updated court include:
- Palm trees accenting center court, along with a water motif referencing the FGCU waterfront near Alico Arena.
- An enlarged center-court logo that aligns with FGCU's branding guidelines.
- "Your Hometown Team" now appears along the sideline, mirroring signage fans see when entering Alico Arena.
- Palm leaf accents inside the paint along the sidelines and baselines.
- The Atlantic Sun Conference logo featured in the paint at both ends of the court.
- "FGCU Eagles" displayed on both baselines in accordance with current branding standards.
FGCU's men's and women's basketball teams were the first to see the updated court during a reveal Friday morning.
"I like how the logo's bigger," said women's basketball player Cerina Rolle. "Now we're going to be able to shoot those logo 3s!"
"I really like how it says 'Your Hometown Team' on the sideline," said Michael Duax of the men's basketball team. "I didn't really notice until today that it says that outside of Alico Arena, but now I like how it's there and on the court as well."
