This is a great opportunity to stay updated on upcoming events, service opportunities, and professional development activities. We’ll also share ways to get more involved with SOTA, answer any questions about membership and leadership positions, and connect with your peers in the OT program. Whether you’re a new member or a returning one, GBMs are a space to learn more about what’s happening in SOTA, give your input, and build community within the program.

The Skills Advantage is a campus wide project focused on transferable skills like leadership, communication and critical thinking. Come learn how you can develop crucial skills like these in courses and campus life activities, make them visible with FGCU Transferable Skill Badges, and leverage them for career success! Free Weekly ASL Class – No Commitment Needed!Join us this Fall 2025 to learn American Sign Language in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. Hitch a ride on our famous yellow golf cart! If you are on main campus, we will pick you up and give you a ride to your destination within the main perimeter of campus. On your way to class or back to your room, we will ask you trivia questions related to health and wellness!  The first 20 passengers will receive $5 Eagle Dollars on their Eagle Account within 1-3 business days, which can be used for student printers, laundry facilities, vending machines, dining locations. Passengers must sign a form in order to receive the $5 in their Eagle Account.

Iron Eagles is a fun and friendly strength challenge where participants can test their one-rep max in three lifts – bench press, squat, and deadlift. Attend 2 sessions to earn an Iron Eagles exclusive t-shirt!

Join one of our Listeners or swap a story in our circle on the Library Lawn and Veterans Pavilion. Stories connect and heal. Stories are how we make meaning out of life. Volunteers will play community roles and engage with participants navigating complex, real-life scenarios. 🕓 Evening Schedule: 5:00–6:00 PM – Volunteer Training 6:00–6:30 PM – Dinner (provided) 6:30–8:30 PM – Poverty Simulation 8:30–9:00 PM – Clean Up Students who complete this event gain skills in: Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Oral/Written Communications, Teamwork/Collaboration This aligns with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No Poverty (1), Good Health and Well-being (3), Quality Education (4), Reduced Inequalities (10)

This hands-on experience invites participants to facilitate role-play real-life situations faced by individuals and families living in poverty in the U.S. today.   📅Date: Wednesday, November 12th ⏰ Event Time: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM📍 Meeting Location: McTarnaghan Hall Bus Loop🚌 Meeting Time: 4:20 PM | Departure: 4:30 PM | Return: around 9:20 PM   🌍 Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Reduced Inequalities, Partnerships for the Goals  🎓 Majors Connected to This Experience: Social Work, Sociology, Public Administration, Public Health, Intergrated Studies... and more!

Pre-departure meetings prepare students to engage in service with purpose, humility, and confidence with Alternative Break. Through interactive workshops and discussions, participants develop a shared understanding of servant leadership and what it means to lead by supporting others. These sessions emphasize teamwork, active listening, and reflection as key elements of meaningful service. Students will learn, engage, and explore within their Alternative Break Cohort. 

Join us at our first meeting of the semester! We'll introduce our officers and discuss plans for upcoming events and activities.  Plus, we'll take you on a brief tour of the universe and its denizens (no FTL required!) Learn about our celestial neighborhood, from sol-bound asteroids, Oort cloud comets and interstellar visitors to Local Group galaxies and supermassive black holes, and the propulsion that it would take to get us there.  This meeting is a great opportunity to meet other space enthusiasts and learn a little more about our universe! Pizza will be provided!

Join the Glades Neighborhood in diving into how we impact our community on all three levels: Self, Other, and Community. There will be campus partners including University Recreation and Wellness A gratitude wall and photobooth Service Learning Bingo  and Donut NV!
