- Sat, Oct 18Volunteers Needed at Fundraising Gala for the American Cancer Society*VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 21+* The American Cancer Society exists because this year alone, more than two million people in the U.S. will hear the words, “you have cancer”. With donor and volunteer support, we will continue to advance our work and provide support and hope to millions. Dinner is provided! Volunteers will serve in one or more of the following roles during the fundraising gala: Greeter ▪ Description: Greet all guests as they arrive, answer their questions, and provide direction. ▪ Qualifications: Upbeat attitude and a warm, approachable personality. Registration/Checkout Attendant ▪ Description: Check in guests and assist through the registration process, answer questions, and report on any issues. At the end of the night, compute purchases for winning bidders, operate software to keep the live and silent auctions updated throughout the evening. ▪ Qualifications: Computer skills, database software experience preferred, but not required. A fun upbeat attitude, with a winning smile and strong organizational skills. Silent Auction Attendant ▪ Description: Set up silent auction packages, assist bidders, report on bidding status, and assist guests with checking-out. Deliver auction items to winning bidders, may include transporting items to their car. ▪ Qualifications: A desire to help others make exciting purchases. Great people skills and ability to lift 40 pounds. Revenue Enhancer/Live Auction Attendant ▪ Description: Engage guests and explain the exciting opportunities at the event. Jump into the action during our exciting live auction by assisting the auctioneer with spotting bids. ▪ Qualifications: A good eye, a clear voice, great people skills and comfortable approaching guests. Students will be trained and led by our Volunteer Lead who has served the event for three years. Students will engage in leadership and service activities that enable them to further develop and enhance their leadership abilities, while also making a significant contribution in the American Cancer Society's effort to support cancer patients and their caregivers, continue lifesaving research, and make progress in the fight against cancer. Volunteers are asked to serve the entire time (3:30 PM-11:30 PM) For attire, a t-shirt will be provided to pair with a skirt or pants, as well as any cowboy boots, hats, or any country flair! Denim jackets/dresses are also okay, but please no blue jeans (black or white jeans are acceptable). We recommend you wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. - Mon, Oct 20Dance Instructor Needed for After School Students at The Salvation Army of Collier County Youth CenterThe Salvation Army of Collier County Fran Cohen Youth Center is seeking enthusiastic FGCU students to volunteer as dance instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can explore new skills, build confidence, and grow creatively. What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school dance session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will plan and teach beginner-friendly routines, encourage participation, and create a fun and engaging atmosphere. All styles of dance are welcome, and no professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with kids and sharing the joy of movement. - Sat, Oct 25Volunteers Needed for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of SWFLThank you for your interest! We are seeking FGCU students to assist with our upcoming event, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Southwest Florida, scheduled for October 26, 2025. Students can support by volunteering on event day (set-up, registration, water stations, cheering participants) or helping in the weeks leading up to the event with outreach, logistics, and awareness efforts. This event is hosted by the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Our mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Funds raised support groundbreaking research, free patient programs, and access to lifesaving screenings and care. We would love to partner with FGCU students who are passionate about community service and making a meaningful impact. Students are welcome to attend when they can—there are no required shifts, and they do not need to stay for the entire event. Any time they’re able to volunteer is appreciated. - Sat, Oct 25Volunteer Photographer Needed for Golf Tournament with Warrior Homes of CollierPut your photography skills to use! We are looking for a volunteer photographer for our golf tournament. Must bring your own equipment and provide your own transportation. We prefer that the student serve for the entire tournament. Warrior Homes provides healthy and safe living environments for veterans in need of a hand up and not a handout. Warrior Homes started in early 2018 as the result of our community coming together to address the homeless issues faced by local veterans. There's no better way to make friends and get connected to FGCU and the SWFL community than by spending a morning together serving others. TIMELINE OF THE DAY 8:00am: Check-in at the FGCU Student Plaza Bus Loop 8:20am: Kickoff 8:30am: Depart on buses 9:00am: Serve at sites across the SWFL Community 12:15pm: Wrap-Up and Depart 12:30pm-1:00pm: Arrive back to the FGCU Student Plaza Bus Loop and have lunch together while reflecting on your day! MANDATORY PRE-EVENT CHECK-IN: All participants must check-in prior to the morning of the event to confirm their spot. Pre-event check-in will be open October 20-23, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM in McTarnaghan Hall 229. IMPORTANT: Anyone under 18 MUST bring a signed copy of your waiver with you to the pre-event check-in in MCT 229. GROUPS: If you have friends (or a group) that you would like to serve with, you must each RSVP individually in Eagle Link then all pre-check-in as a group together at the same time between Oct 20-22 in MCT 229 to have the best chance of serving at the same site. Total group participation numbers are limited to site capacities and site availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. TRANSPORTATION: Transportation will be provided for all participants. We will meet in the FGCU Student Plaza/Bus Loop promptly at 8am. Buses depart at 8:30am. Important: Once you RSVP, your community agency is fully counting on you to be there that morning, so please be 100% sure you can attend before committing. ATTIRE AND WHAT TO BRING: Please wear either an FGCU shirt or blue and green to represent the university out in the community! - Sat, Oct 25Site Leaders Needed for Make A Difference Day (MADD) 2025Give back to the community. Get service-learning hours. Develop your leadership skills. Be a Make A Difference Day Site Leader! The FGCU Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement is in need of students to serve as site leaders during the annual Make A Difference Day morning of service. Site leaders will help lead a service trip with roughly 25 student participants per site. You will work together with one or two additional site leaders to lead your site location. Locations will vary. Learn more about the Day of Service event here. The event runs 8am-1pm. However, we ask site leaders to arrive at 7am to help with setup and plan to stay until 2pm to help with any teardown that may be needed. You will engage in 7 hours of service-learning toward your graduation requirement. You must attend a short training session. Hosted by LARC, this first-of-its-kind event funds lifechanging services for over 300 Southwest Florida residents each year. Mondays on these specific days: August 25th, September 15th, October 6th, October 27th, November 17th from 3pm-5pm What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school pottery or ceramics session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will guide students through simple, beginner-friendly clay projects, foster creativity, and encourage hands-on learning in a fun, positive environment. No professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with youth and an interest in ceramics. - Wed, Oct 29Volunteers needed for Hallowine Walk with Blessings in a BackpackBlessings in a Backpack is looking for FGCU students who may be interested in assisting them with their Hollowine Walk. Hallowine is on October 29th, from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Mercato in Naples. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 4:30 PM. All volunteers will split into groups of 2-3 and will be positioned at different check points around Mercato and stamp passports. Volunteers need to be 18+, in attendance for the entirety of the event, must have own transportation to and from event. - Sat, Nov 1Volunteers Needed for Premier Mobile Health ServicesPremier Mobile Health Services' nonprofit mission is to provide access to the highest quality healthcare services to the medically vulnerable and those who are most at risk of developing and experiencing long-term illnesses and hospitalization. Premier Mobile is dedicated to prevention through outreach and education, as well as opening access to the health services everyone deserves. We will need students to help us create a "Roaring 20s" style Casino for our fundraiser. They will help us with set-up, decorating, greeting guests, Silent Auction, Donor spotting and tear- down. Volunteers are needed from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The actual hours will depend on the tasks they are assigned: - Set-up from 1pm to 5pm - Greet guests, promote silent auction, sell raffle tickets, auction spotters from 5 pm to 9 pm - Event breakdown 9 pm to 10 pm.
