- Mon, Oct 6Share Your Creativity: Teach Pottery to Youth at The Salvation Army of Collier CountyThe Salvation Army of Collier County Youth Center is looking for FGCU students to volunteer as pottery/ceramics instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive space where children can explore creativity, build new skills, and grow in confidence. Mondays on these specific days: August 25th, September 15th, October 6th, October 27th, November 17th from 3pm-5pm What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school pottery or ceramics session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will guide students through simple, beginner-friendly clay projects, foster creativity, and encourage hands-on learning in a fun, positive environment. No professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with youth and an interest in ceramics. - Sat, Oct 11Volunteers needed for The Timbor Jamboree EventThe mission of the Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens is to provide a Sanctuary of Art and Nature along the Peace River that showcases world-class sculptures and spectacular botanical to inspire creativity throughout the community. The event will have live chainsaw carving and wood art demonstrations with interactive art experiences for all ages. They will need students to assist with admissions, parking lot attendants, craft stations for kiddos, yard games, garden greeters, set up and clean up. In-person opportunity; 2 shifts are available: 8am-12pm and 12pm-4pm during the event Set up will start at 7:30-9am and clean-up will be from 4pm-5:30pm approximately. You can work a shift or the entire day! - Sat, Oct 11Volunteers Needed for Babcock Ranch Community Cleanup Event with The Community ChurchWe are looking for volunteers to help the residents and local organizations in Babcock Ranch keep our city clean. We will walk the sidewalks, medians, parks, and green spaces to collect any discarded items and properly dispose of them. Items will be sorted for recycling. Part of our mission, vision, and values is to care for the environment and educate the community on the importance of sustainability. This event is on Saturday, October 11 in Babcock Ranch. The event starts with a safety and strategy talk at 8:00am and debris collection to follow. We meet in the parking lot of the Babcock Ranch Field House near the football field in Babcock Ranch. Items collected will be returned to the meeting area (Babcock Ranch Field House Parking Lot) to be weighed and sorted for recycling. - Sat, Oct 11Bunche Beach CleanupEvent: Bunche Beach Cleanup Date: October 11, 2025 Time: 9:00 am - 10:45 am We provide Free Parking thanks to Lee County Parks and Rec. What To Bring: Re-useable water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. We suggest a hat and sunglasses. What We Provide: All tools needed, sunblock, water refill jug, light snacks, and designated team members who take pictures and ensure safety. Safety Guidelines: Drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed. Set a timer to come back at set time. Watch out for sharp objects, glass, and wildlife. Avoid heavy lifting and work with a buddy at all times. Do not touch hazardous materials such as needles or chemicals. Report heavy items to our designated team member. Post Cleanup: Weigh your buckets and join the group photo at 10:45 am. Why Help: Beach cleanups are a last line of defense to prevent debris from causing harm to our oceans, to wildlife, to our coastal economies, and even beach-goers. - Sat, Oct 11Volunteers Needed for Wonder Gardens After DarkAs an oasis in Bonita Springs that serves generational audiences, The Wonder Gardens inspires and provides transformative experiences of wonder in the natural world. We are a historic botanical garden and zoological park that provides long term nurturing homes for exotic and local wildlife. "Wonder Gardens After Dark" on October 11, 2025, is a family friendly community-building Halloween event that includes fun, educational activities and games with a message of conservation. Set up volunteers (10 am - 2 pm) will move tables and chairs, decorate, and move activity supplies into place. Closed toe shoes required. Khaki & black dress preferred. Event volunteers (4:00 - 9:00 pm) will staff activity tables and games for visitors. Face painters, musicians, and costumed characters also needed. Closed toed shoes required. Family friendly costume or black shirt/black pants or shorts. Light dinner provided! With a dedicated team of volunteers, board of directors and staff, Community Cooperative stays committed to our core responsibility to collect and distribute resources through a strong and viable network of community partners. Community Cooperative is an exemplary steward of the resources entrusted to us, and serves our clients with compassion and integrity. Through collaboration and ongoing education, Community Cooperative supports and strengthens those whose lives have been affected by hunger and homelessness, ensuring that they have access to the resources necessary to transform their lives with dignity. In order to make the Meals on Wheels program run smoothly, they are in need of volunteers to assist with packing grocery bags for their clients. These grocery bags help provide food security to our most vulnerable neighbors—the medically homebound—in between their regular meal deliveries. Small groups of 3-5 people are preferred! - Sat, Oct 18Volunteers Needed for the Frightfully Fun Fest with Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Myers (UUCFM)Students will be assigned to a team (based on their skills/interests) - it might be helping supervise parking, staffing a game, face-painting, pumpkin decorating, Marching in the costume parade or helping with food and crowd management. This event is targeted to children under the age of 10 so experience working with children would be preferable. With donor and volunteer support, we will continue to advance our work and provide support and hope to millions. Dinner is provided! Volunteers will serve in one or more of the following roles during the fundraising gala: Greeter βͺ Description: Greet all guests as they arrive, answer their questions, and provide direction. βͺ Qualifications: Upbeat attitude and a warm, approachable personality. Registration/Checkout Attendant βͺ Description: Check in guests and assist through the registration process, answer questions, and report on any issues. At the end of the night, compute purchases for winning bidders, operate software to keep the live and silent auctions updated throughout the evening. βͺ Qualifications: Computer skills, database software experience preferred, but not required. A fun upbeat attitude, with a winning smile and strong organizational skills. Silent Auction Attendant βͺ Description: Set up silent auction packages, assist bidders, report on bidding status, and assist guests with checking-out. Deliver auction items to winning bidders, may include transporting items to their car. βͺ Qualifications: A desire to help others make exciting purchases. Great people skills and ability to lift 40 pounds. Revenue Enhancer/Live Auction Attendant βͺ Description: Engage guests and explain the exciting opportunities at the event. Jump into the action during our exciting live auction by assisting the auctioneer with spotting bids. βͺ Qualifications: A good eye, a clear voice, great people skills and comfortable approaching guests. Students will be trained and led by our Volunteer Lead who has served the event for three years. Students will engage in leadership and service activities that enable them to further develop and enhance their leadership abilities, while also making a significant contribution in the American Cancer Society's effort to support cancer patients and their caregivers, continue lifesaving research, and make progress in the fight against cancer. Volunteers are asked to serve the entire time (3:30 PM-11:30 PM) For attire, a t-shirt will be provided to pair with a skirt or pants, as well as any cowboy boots, hats, or any country flair!
