Thu, Nov 6Veterans Appreciation Pop-UpEvery message matters. Join us on the Library Lawn to share your gratitude for our FGCU Eagles who have served. Stop by to sign one of our 3x2 appreciation banners and write a message of thanks to our faculty, staff, and student veterans. These banners, filled with words of appreciation from the entire FGCU community, will be proudly displayed on A-frames at the Annual Veterans Day Luncheon on November 13, honoring those who have served with courage and dedication. Let’s remind our veterans that their sacrifice is seen and appreciated!
Thu, Nov 6Veteran's Day Murph WorkoutThis event is to honor veterans in the FGCU community. The Murph is a workout to honor Lt. Michael Murphy, who gave his life in the Afghanistan war for his comrades. The workout includes a 1-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, and 300 squats, followed by another 1-mile run. Additionally, there is a half version and regressions available for any ability level interested in participating. It is not how we do the workout but why we do it. Walk ups are welcome or you can reserve your spot on the Rec Store starting on 10/30.
Mon, Nov 10Witness the 13 FoldsJoin us as we begin Veterans Week with a traditional military ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes. Witness the 13 Folds will feature a Color Guard presenting the American Flag and performing the symbolic folding of the flag, a powerful tradition that reflects the values and history of military service. This ceremony invites our campus and community to experience a meaningful part of military culture and to recognize the contributions of our military-connected students, faculty, and families. Whether you are a veteran, military-connected, or a supporter, we welcome you to stand with us in respect and remembrance. Note: All participants are required to complete FGCU’s online Media Release Form prior to the event. The form can be accessed at: https://www.fgcu.edu/mediarelease/
