Gainesville Fall Classic
The Club Baseball ended their fall season with a bang! They traveled up to Gainesville to participate in a round robin tournament. The Eagles took on USF, UCF, and UF.
Against USF, the Eagles had a fantastic outing from Brandon Barcenas who struck out 5 in 5 innings. It was a back and forth game between the two teams. A big day from Jake Wheeler and Bryce Hayse helped the team gain the advantage. A lock down performance by Nick Wessling and Andy Dean got them the win and the save in a 7-5 game.
Against UCF, it was a cold night and that is how the bats started for the Eagles. The team found themseleves down early 3-0 after a solid outting from Martin Goldberg who struck out 5 in 4 innings pitched. The Eagles had a huge 5 run rally led by Dylan Odud, Jordan Caberera and Cam Becker who all had multiple hits and RBIs. Alex Mills led the way scoring twice and stealing 3 bases. Bryce Hayse and Andy Dean locked down the final 9 outs getting them a win and a save in an 8-5 victory.
Against UF, the Eagles could not back up Matt Columbia and his 5 strike outs on the mound coughing up 4 errors. The bats fell quiet after scoring 1 run in the first inning. The Eagles did try to crawl their way back into the game scoring 4 runs in the 6th led by Dylan Odud, Cam Becker, and Billy Quantromoni all driving in runs. The Eagles just fell short in their final game of the weekend.
