Eagles Soaring Last Two Weeks

Club Baseball has swept their last two opponents.

The FGCU Club Baseball team this past weekend swept another conference opponent, the Miami Canes Club Baseball team. This coming right after sweeping nationally ranked UCF Club Baseball team the weekend prior.

In game 1, Brandon Barcenas tossed another gem for the Eagles striking out 8 and only allowing 1 run in his start. The Eagles lost the lead 8-2 in the top of the 7th after several errors in the final inning. Late game heroics from Senior Matt Roth, saved the game for the Eagles singling in Enrique Santa Maria to walk it off. Martin Goldberg got the win in relief while Dylan Odud, Matt Roth, Ignacio Castro, Mike DeMio, Jordan Cabrera and Enrique Santa Maria all tallied multiple hits. The Eagles won 9-8 in 7 innings.

Game 2, Jack Nitti keeps his momentum rolling as he gets his 3rd win on the mound of the season behind his complete game shutout. Nitti punched out 8 hitters allowing no runs against the conference opponent. Dylan Odud lead the way while Cam Becker, Jake Wheeler, and Brian Protesto all collected multiple hits on the day to mercy ruling Miami. The Eagles won 10-0 in 6 innings.

Game 3, Matt Columbia finally stretched it out for the Eagles to get his first win on the season behind excellent defense from the team. He also tossed a complete game shutout for the Eagles striking out 1 and allowing just 3 hits. The Eagles bats stayed hot with Enrique Santa Maria leading the way getting on base in all his at bats and scoring 4 times. Billy Quatromoni started the rally towards mercy ruling the Hurricanes with an RBI bunt single. Jack Wheeler, Dylan Odud, and Ray Pereira also tallied hits during the rally. The Eagles won 10-0 in 7 innings. 

 

The Eagles look to keep it rolling against another conference foe, USF Club Baseball team. This is their last home series of the year at Bonita Springs High School, this weekend. Game times will be 10 am and 12:30 pm on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday.
