October InSTALLment: Exercise is Medicine

October 2025 Volume 13 Issue 4

What is EIM?

“Exercise is Medicine” (EIM) is an initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). EIM encourages physicians to include physical activity in patient treatment plans by referring them to exercise professionals. EIM believes that physical activity should be assessed as a part of “all healthcare”. The main goal is to increase awareness on how exercise positively impacts physical, mental, and emotional well-being. EIM on-campus encourages faculty, staff and students to improve the health and well-being of the campus community by making movement a part of the daily campus culture and providing students with the tools necessary to strengthen healthy physical activity habits that can last a lifetime. (ACSM 2025) (FGCU.edu 2025)
