FGCU Dirty Bird Classic 2013
FGCU hosted the first Tennis on Campus tournament of 2013, with more than 30 players from FGCU participating in the competition.

The University of Florida club tennis team reasserted itself on Jan. 12, 2013, at the FGCU Open Dirty Bird Classic, on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Fla.
The UF-"A" team overcame teammates UF-"B" in the semifinals before defeating the University of South Florida-"A" team in the final of the Gold Bracket division. In their semifinal the USF-"A" team defeated the University of Central Florida-"A" team to gain the final, their second final of the 2012-13 season after the West Coast Invite (Masters)in Tampa.
The UCF-"C" team was the winner in the Silver Bracket, in the final defeating the UF-"D" squad.
If was the fourth title in five tournaments this season for UF's club tennis squad, who were stopped from raising a trophy only once this year by the UCF team at their own UCF Knitro Cup in Orlando on Nov. 17.
Other participating schools at the FGCU Open Dirty Bird Classic were Florida State University, and host Florida Gulf Coast University. Ranking points earned for the event were UF-785, UCF-375, USF-310, FGCU-110, and FSU-60.
The next event on the 2012-13 USTA Florida "Tennis on Campus" calendar will be the USF Bullrun (Grand Slam division) on Jan. 26 in Tampa.
The Tennis on Campus team format features men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles, with a minimum of two men and two women per team. The format uses World TeamTennis (WTT) scoring, where the first up to five games wins the match, with a 12-point super-tiebreak if the match is tied at four games all. Total cumulative games determine the overall winning team of each match. The WTT scoring format also features no-ad scoring, player substitutions, and player on-court coaching is allowed.
