Give Kids The World

Hi Eagles Educate Members,

I was going to wait until the first meeting to announce information about Give Kids the World, however they are requiring applications to be turned in by February 1st so I thought I would share this opportunity now. 

"Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) is a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. GKTW provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated attractions tickets, meals and more for a week-long, cost free fantasy vacation. With the help of many generous individuals, corporations and partnering wish-granting organizations, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 122,000 families from all 50 states and over 74 countries."

We have reserved 12 volunteer positions for the morning of Saturday March 8th. The plan is to carpool from Fort Myers and drive up (very) early Saturday and volunteer from approximately 7:30am-12:00pm. We will then take a guided tour of the resort from 12:00pm-1:00pm. We have been given the option to eat lunch on site for $5 or purchase lunch on our own. Volunteering for the morning shift will allow us to explore the area in the afternoon. The plan is to stay overnight in Orlando.

Eagles Educate will be paying for the hotel stay Saturday night. We will confirm which hotel we will be staying at by the first meeting of the semester. We do ask however, that everyone come prepared to split gas costs at the end of the trip.

Since we only have 12 positions available it is first come first served. To reserve your spot please send me an email, however only RSVP to come if you are sure you will be able to attend. GKTW depends on volunteers to run various jobs around the resort, so if we don't show up with 12 people they will be short staffed for the day
