Collect Shoes for Laces of Love!
Through years of support from the FGCU community, Laces of Love has been able to provide new shoes to kids in need at schools across SWFL. In fact, nearly 15,000 pairs of shoes are given out each year! As in previous years, Laces of Love will continue to be the nonprofit of focus during Homecoming and we are encouraging all faculty, staff, and students to get involved.
If you enjoy meaningful competitions, we encourage you to create and register a team (even if you’re a team of one) - then start collecting new pairs of kids shoes. The team with the most donated shoes wins!
Categories include:
- Faculty/Staff Team that donates the most shoes
- Student Team that donates the most shoes
- Individual that donates the most shoes
Register your team here by Thursday, February 9.
Team donation drop-offs should be made (all at once) at the Soaring With Service event on the Library Lawn, Feb. 16, 2023, 10am-2pm (or any time prior to Feb. 16th in McTarnaghan Hall 229 - Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement). Shoes should be new and all "school age" sizes are needed from K through 12. There is a much higher need for boys shoes than girls shoes; however, all donations are welcome. If interested, monetary donations can be received at the Soaring With Service event directly to Laces of Love with each $25 gift being counted as a pair of shoes toward your team's total.
