Wellness Wisdom: Hydration

Wait... that's how much water I should be drinking? View this news article to see if you are drinking the recommended amount!

50-70% of your body is water, so it's clear that we need to stay hydrated to keep our bodies going! The question is how much should you be drinking?

The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is:

  • About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men
  • About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women

This is roughly 8 glasses of water a day.

All of the water doesn't have to come from glasses of water, it can be from the foods you eat too!

Consider cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, brussel sprouts, yellow melon, oranges, apples, blueberries, celery, lettuce, watermelon, peaches, broth, watercress, and zucchini. Some of these are made up of 90% water or more.
