Wellness Wisdom: Skin Care
A quality and efficacious skin care regimen can have a positive impact on the quality of life of consumers (Zhang et al., 2020). We encourage you to find products and routines that fit your lifestyle and skin type. However, these four simple steps are a great start!
One: Cleanse
You want to cleanse in the morning to remove excess oil from the skin after sleeping and cleanse at night to remove sunscreen, makeup, dirt, and oil that has built up throughout the day. Try to go for the unscented cleansers to prevent irritation to the skin.
Two: Treatment
This helps address any problem areas you would like to work on such as acne, redness, blackheads, and dark spots. Toners and serums work best at this stage.
Three: Moisturize
Moisturizers allows us to hydrate and soften the skin, as well as prevent over drying from any of the prior steps. Make sure you spread it onto your neck.
Four: Sunscreen
Daily and consistent sunscreen use helps to prevent wrinkles, textural imperfections, and changes in the appearance of pores over time. More importantly, daily sunscreen use can help to prevent the formation of certain skin cancers. Try to find a moisturizer with a built in broad specturm SPF of at least 30 to do two steps in one!
Bonus Step: Drink water and get adequate sleep!
Stay tuned next month for another edition of Wellness Wisdom, brought to you by Prevention and Wellness!
