FGCU Club Baseball Wins First Series
The FGCU Club Baseball team this past weekend received a series win against conference opponent, the University of Florida Club Baseball Team. The FGCU baseball team went one in one on Saturday and won the tie breaker on Sunday.
In game 1, Connor Brian tossed a great game for the Eagles striking out 8 and allowing 3 runs on 3 hits in 5 innings. The Eagles bats came out hot during the first game scoring 13 runs in just 5 innings allowing us to win by mercy rule. The Eagles had a total of 11 hits which was lead by Bryce Hayse and Brandon Barcenas who each had 3 hits. Dylan Odud, Jake Wheeler, Jordan Cabrera, and Ignacio Castro also tallied up multiple hits to help the team get the win. The Eagles won 13-3 in 5 innings.
In Game 2, Brandon Barcenas started on the mound for the Eagles who threw 6 innings and allowed 4 runs while striking out 7. Derek Mesa came out of the bulpen and threw two scoreless innings while Andy Dean and Jake Wheeler finished the game. The Eagles came out slow the second game, but started hitting later on in the game to take a 5-4 lead. Dylan Odud and Jake Wheeler lead the team with hits while Mike Demio, Bryce Hayse, Ignacio Castro, and Max Aizenshtat also had one hit. UF rallied in the 9th innings to take the 5-6 lead. The Eagles lost 5-6 in 9 innings.
In game 3, Jack Nitti threw a 7 inning complete game allowing 2 runs on just 2 hits while stiking out 6 to help the Eagles get the win. The Eagles tallied up 9 hits during this game. Bryce Hayse lead the team with 3 hits while Dylan Odud, Jake Wheeler, Brandyn Gatenby, Max Aizenshtat, Sam Mcduffie, and Alex Mills each had one hit to help the team get the series win. The Eagles won 5-2 in 7 innings.
The Eagles look to keep it rolling next weekend against our first non conference team, Ave Maria.
