FEA Leadership Conference
Information on the FEA Leadership Conference
Hi everyone,
I thought I would extend this invitation out to all Eagles Educate members!
A few of us are going to be attending the FEA Leadership Conference on February 7th-9th. It is taking place in Orlando at the Embassy Suites Orlando North, 225 Shorecrest Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL.
"Being the Change" is the theme for the 10th Annual Student FEA Conference. It begins Friday, Feb 7 in the evening, and continues all Saturday with networking, skill building and opportunities for interviews and professional development including a program we can take back to our campus or school where we are working. It concludes on Sunday, Feb 9 with an Outreach to Teach project with Altamonte Elementary where will will do a mini-makeover for their school, painting murals, beautifying gardens and enhancing their library.
The conference cost is $65 as long as you are a FEA (Florida Education Association) member. If you are in Block 4 or 5 you are required to purchase the membership anyway to cover liability insurance for your internship. (The student NEA which we purchased is part of the FEA.)
The $65 cost covers registration, materials, most meals, room for two nights (for Trpl/Quad) and conference shirt. The hotel is an all suite property so their are two beds and a foldout sofa in each room. (Sounds like a good deal to me!)
If you are interested in attending the conference and you are NOT a member of FEA, the membership price is $31, then you would pay the conference registration price at $65. The other option is to purchase the non-member conference registration which is $110. Obviously becoming a member is the cheaper option, plus there are benefits of becoming a student NEA and FEA member.

If you are interested in the conference or have any questions about the membership please let me know! The more the merrier! We can request to room together as well as carpool. I do want to make it clear that this conference will not be paid for through Eagles Educate. If there is enough interest then maybe we can put together a car wash or some other kind of fundraising event.
We are however trying to put together a paid overnight trip to volunteer at Give Kids the World. We will have more information about this next month!
