Summer Internship
Good Morning!
My name is Anna DeAngelis, I am a senior taking Civic Engagement. Our teams service learning project is working with the Gladiolus Learning and Development Center in Fort Myers. My group is currently trying to help out the center by creating an ongoing summer internship with FGCU students, specifically education majors.
The internship would be in the summer, we are working out details now and we have already spoken with internship coordinator, Amanda Parke, who has approved everything thus far. The Gladiolus center for learning and development is a nonprofit organization for underprivileged children in Fort Myers. The children range from babies to middle school age, and are in the lowest poverty level of Fort Myers. During the summer it is hard for the students to retain the information they have learned throughout the school year, so the main purpose of this internship would be to teach the students their lessons throughout the summer, so they retain the information better, and are ready for school in the fall. It would be an unpaid internship, but FGCU students would be able to receive service learning hours. The children are so cute and love FGCU students!
Is there any way you could possibly get this info out? We are trying to see if there are FGCU students who would be interested in this internship, maybe elementary education students? If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me at any time!
Thank you!
Anna DeAngelis
