Internships for Business Majors
According to Susan Adams at Forbes Magazine, a new study shows that as many as 60% of paid internships will turn into a job offer. Internships offer employers a way to evaluate a candidate's skills and work ethic prior to full-time hire, and give students the chance to gain work experience in their chosen field while earning academic credit and income to support their education. Even if it doesn't lead to a job offer, that internship experience helps you become a competitive candidate for jobs in your field after you graduate.
The Lutgert College of Business has staff members dedicated to helping you gain internship experience! Requirements vary by major, and navigating the process from job search to the first day of work can be daunting. We are offering four information sessions during the fall semester that can help.
Sessions will cover requirements by major, an overview of the registration process, best practices for job hunting, and details about employer recruitment events held throughout the year. Registration is required via Eagle Career Network for the following sessions:
- Wednesday, September 28, 12:15pm
- Wednesday, October 19, 12:30pm (virtual)
- Wednesday, October 26, 12:15pm
- Wednesday, November 16, 12:15pm
Depending on your major, an internship may be strongly recommended or even required! For more information regarding internships in Resort & Hospitality, contact Jennifer McGurk; PGA Golf Management majors contact Marty Hall; all other business majors contact Tifarah Pardue.
