- Sep 1 – Dec 31Volunteers Needed for Youth Vault Financial Literacy Program with Advance the FaithAdvance the Faith is in need of FGCU students to serve at the Vault Financial Literacy Program that they run on a monthly basis at Oasis Youth Shelter. An emergency shelter for youth in crisis situations or who have recently been removed from an unsafe environment to be placed in foster care. Their faith-based program provides lessons and activities to teach basic financial literacy skills to empower high school students as they prepare for independent living. Volunteers assist staff with the program through set up, keeping track of participation points, assisting students, and helping teach lessons, if desired. Volunteers may select dates that they are available, as they do not have to attend all of the 5 sessions per month. Background checks are required. This program is run on a monthly basis of 5 sessions per month on Mondays and Wednesdays (dates vary each month on which 5 days). Volunteers are needed from 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM. You will do amazing tasks such as reading a story about the highlighted food, help with arts and crafts, and even hand out snacks! Our Flip participants are always excited to have us in the classroom and they always enjoy crafts and a healthy snack. You will be working closely with our social worker Jeremy, who often sports a fruit or vegetable costume! If you have not volunteered with Community Cooperative before, all FLIP volunteers must conduct a phone interview with a staff member of volunteer services.
