A Community Partnership School is both a physical place, as well as a set of partnerships between a school and community resources. A Community Partnership School utilizes four pillars- expanded learning, wellness supports, family and community engagement, and collaborative leadership- to focus its efforts in addressing barriers to success such as hunger, poverty, lack of access to adequate health care, lack of educational supports, and other challenges the community faces, as identified by the community. Through eliminating these barriers to resources for students, staff, families, and the community, the Community Partnership Schools’ goal is to increase the chances of student success and well-being.Fort Myers Middle School, A Community Partnership School, partnered with United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, is seeking passionate FGCU students to serve as mentors and academic tutors for Fort Myers Middle School students enrolled in our Before and Afterschool Program, led by the YMCA of Southwest Florida. FGCU volunteers will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects—particularly science and reading—while also serving as positive role models. In addition to academic support, volunteers will assist with a variety of enrichment activities, including student-led clubs, arts and crafts, sports, and games. These structured stations are designed to promote creativity, collaboration, and confidence among students. Volunteers will work closely with YMCA staff to ensure programming is inclusive, engaging, and aligned with the developmental needs of middle schoolers. About Project Help: We aim to provide every member of our community, regardless of age, financial status, ethnicity, and identity. With access to our 24-hour Crisis and Referral Hotline, Sexual Assault Response Services, Crime Victim Advocacy, Sudden Death Response, and Crisis Intervention Services. We strive to give a voice to all those affected by violence, sudden death, and trauma. What are we looking for?: SART(Sexual Assault Response Team) volunteers are trained victim advocates who respond in person when a survivor presents for a forensic exam, within 120 hours (5 days) of an assault. As part of our on-call rotation, you’ll accompany survivors at our office in our forensic exam room or local hospitals, offering emotional support, information about their rights and options, and helping them feel less alone during the exam process. SART volunteers must be able to respond in person when called during their assigned on-call shifts. Again, no experience is necessary—just compassion, reliability, and a willingness to show up when someone truly needs support. Full training is provided, and staff are always available for guidance. Volunteers are on call 24/7 during their assigned day(s). Advance the Faith is in need of FGCU students to serve at the Vault Financial Literacy Program that they run on a monthly basis at Oasis Youth Shelter. An emergency shelter for youth in crisis situations or who have recently been removed from an unsafe environment to be placed in foster care. Their faith-based program provides lessons and activities to teach basic financial literacy skills to empower high school students as they prepare for independent living. Volunteers assist staff with the program through set up, keeping track of participation points, assisting students, and helping teach lessons, if desired. Volunteers may select dates that they are available, as they do not have to attend all of the 5 sessions per month. Background checks are required.   This program is run on a monthly basis of 5 sessions per month on Mondays and Wednesdays (dates vary each month on which 5 days). LifeWise Academy offers Gospel education to public school students during school hours, with community support and parental permission! They are looking for classroom volunteers who can serve during the school year in our small to medium-sized classes. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive space where children can explore creativity, build new skills, and grow in confidence. The mission of the Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens  is to provide a Sanctuary of Art and Nature along the Peace River that showcases world-class sculptures and spectacular botanical to inspire creativity throughout the community. The event will have live chainsaw carving and wood art demonstrations with interactive art experiences for all ages. They will need students to assist with admissions, parking lot attendants, craft stations for kiddos, yard games, garden greeters, set up and clean up. As an oasis in Bonita Springs that serves generational audiences, The Wonder Gardens inspires and provides transformative experiences of wonder in the natural world. We are a historic botanical garden and zoological park that provides long term nurturing homes for exotic and local wildlife. "Wonder Gardens After Dark" on October 11, 2025, is a family friendly community-building Halloween event that includes fun, educational activities and games with a message of conservation.   Set up volunteers (10 am - 2 pm) will move tables and chairs, decorate, and move activity supplies into place. Community Cooperative strives to be the leader in alleviating hunger and homelessness in our community by addressing key root causes. With a dedicated team of volunteers, board of directors and staff, Community Cooperative stays committed to our core responsibility to collect and distribute resources through a strong and viable network of community partners. Community Cooperative is an exemplary steward of the resources entrusted to us, and serves our clients with compassion and integrity. Through collaboration and ongoing education, Community Cooperative supports and strengthens those whose lives have been affected by hunger and homelessness, ensuring that they have access to the resources necessary to transform their lives with dignity.   In order to make the Meals on Wheels program run smoothly, they are in need of volunteers to assist with packing grocery bags for their clients. These grocery bags help provide food security to our most vulnerable neighbors—the medically homebound—in between their regular meal deliveries. The Salvation Army of Collier County Fran Cohen Youth Center is seeking enthusiastic FGCU students to volunteer as dance instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can explore new skills, build confidence, and grow creatively. What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school dance session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will plan and teach beginner-friendly routines, encourage participation, and create a fun and engaging atmosphere. All styles of dance are welcome, and no professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with kids and sharing the joy of movement. Students can support by volunteering on event day (set-up, registration, water stations, cheering participants) or helping in the weeks leading up to the event with outreach, logistics, and awareness efforts. This event is hosted by the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Our mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Develop your leadership skills.Be a Make A Difference Day Site Leader! The FGCU Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement is in need of students to serve as site leaders during the annual Make A Difference Day morning of service. Site leaders will help lead a service trip with roughly 25 student participants per site.  You will work together with one or two additional site leaders to lead your site location. Locations will vary. The FGCU Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement is in need of students to serve as site leaders during the annual Make A Difference Day morning of service. Site leaders will help lead a service trip with roughly 25 student participants per site.  You will work together with one or two additional site leaders to lead your site location. Locations will vary. Learn more about the Day of Service event here.  The event runs 8am-1pm.  However, we ask site leaders to arrive at 7am to help with setup and plan to stay until 2pm to help with any teardown that may be needed.  You will engage in 7 hours of service-learning toward your graduation requirement.     You must attend a short training session. Hosted by LARC, this first-of-its-kind event funds lifechanging services for over 300 Southwest Florida residents each year. The Salvation Army of Collier County Youth Center is looking for FGCU students to volunteer as pottery/ceramics instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive space where children can explore creativity, build new skills, and grow in confidence. Mondays on these specific days: August 25th, September 15th, October 6th, October 27th, November 17th from 3pm-5pm What We Need:FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school pottery or ceramics session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will guide students through simple, beginner-friendly clay projects, foster creativity, and encourage hands-on learning in a fun, positive environment. No professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with youth and an interest in ceramics. Blessings in a Backpack is looking for FGCU students who may be interested in assisting them with their Hollowine Walk. Hallowine is on October 29th, from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Mercato in Naples. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 4:30 PM. All volunteers will split into groups of 2-3 and will be positioned at different check points around Mercato and stamp passports. Volunteers need to be 18+, in attendance for the entirety of the event, must have own transportation to and from event.
