The Salvation Army of Collier County Fran Cohen Youth Center is seeking enthusiastic FGCU students to volunteer as dance instructors for our after-school program. Our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination by offering programs that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. At the Youth Center, we provide a safe and supportive environment where children can explore new skills, build confidence, and grow creatively. What We Need: FGCU students to lead a one-hour prep time and one-hour after-school dance session (3:00–5:00 PM) for elementary and middle school students. Volunteers will plan and teach beginner-friendly routines, encourage participation, and create a fun and engaging atmosphere. All styles of dance are welcome, and no professional teaching experience is required—just a passion for working with kids and sharing the joy of movement. Mental Health has been a BIG topic recently, and there is a lot of information to know. Through this table, students will navigate through the basics and misconceptions of mental health. Through talking about mental health and the stigmas surrounding it, individuals tend to feel more comfortable having conversations about their own mental health. Students will also learn important ways to care for their own mental health.

Join us for Vertical Oyster Garden (VOG) Building with the Calusa Waterkeeper at the Food Forest! The Calusa Waterkeeper will demonstrate hole-punching in recycled oyster shells, then allow us to try for ourselves! A great opportunity to earn service-learning hours, learn the ropes of VOG-building, and contribute to water conservation in Southwest Florida.

The Bonita Springs Assistance Office partners with the Bonita Springs Fire Department to host the annual Toys for Tots program for the families of Bonita Springs. At BSAO, FGCU students will register parents: reviewing needed documentation and providing appointment cards for parents to go the Fire Department in December and "shop" for their children. We particularly need students that are bi-lingual in Spanish and English because we have many Hispanic community members who participate in our Toys for Tots program.
