First Generation College Celebration is seeking volunteers to help make this event a success! 📝 Tasks Include: Assisting with event check-in Directing attendees to campus partner tables Helping set up and manage activities like cornhole and ring toss Supporting overall event setup and breakdown 📅 Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2025⏰ Time: Blocks available from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-3) — flexible to work around class schedules📍 Location: Library Lawn, FGCU   If you're interested in this opportunity, click here!   Students who complete this event gain skills in Oral/Written Communications, Teamwork/Collaboration, Professionalism/Work Ethic. National First-Generation College Celebration Day (FGCC), is observed annually nationwide. It honors the signing of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965, which expanded opportunities for low-income and first-generation students to attend college. Our First-Generation College Celebration event will celebrate the achievements of all first-generation students, staff, faculty and alumni, and is meant to increase awareness of the first-generation college student experience here at FGCU and nationally, and to ensure that first-generation students are connected to campus resources needed to succeed! Our Library Lawn Celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. There will be several Campus Partners in attendance, activities and games, food, and more! Retention and Graduation Services will be providing special "first-gen" stoles for first-gen graduating seniors. There are also service-learning opportunities available for students. Our Panel of Pioneers: The First-Gen Experience, will take place the following week on November 13, from 9:30am - 11:30am in AB9 106. This will be a panel led by half students, half alumni, to discuss their experience being first-generation. This panel, like the lawn celebration, is open to anyone to attend, but will require an RSVP through EagleLink. University Recreation & Wellness (URecWell) is a high energy department with many offerings. We are here to help meet the wellness needs of FGCU students. At this table, students will engage with Peer Health Educators to better understand what our department offers, current events, and ongoing initiatives.

Out table will have little cut outs of blank phones. People will write why they support Make A Wish or what they would wish for $1.00. We will also be selling tickets for our gala through venmo

Sigep is having a proceeds night at Poke Fusion! This event will be from 11 AM - 9 PM on Wednesday, November 5th. Make sure to mention Sigep when checking out.

This session explores the psychological experience of impostor phenomenon, the feeling of being a fraud despite evidence of competence, and its impact on career development, confidence, and achievement. This session will examine how impostor feelings can hinder performance, limit opportunities, and affect mental well-being while also offering strategies to recognize, manage, and overcome these barriers to unlock professional potential.

Join us for lunch and a lecture! "The FGCU Journey into an AI University" by Dr. Leandro Nunes de Castro, Director of Dendritic: A Human-Centered AI and Data Science Institute/Professor in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering.  All are welcome; lunch will be served in person or join virtually via Teams. (The Teams link will be made available the morning of the program.)

This is our annual toy drive. We are collecting toys for the children at Bonita Springs Elementary School. I was not sure where to put the information, but we do plan on passing out flyers to tell students and employees about how they can participate.
