FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University standout Evan Dempsey added another accolade to his growing list Friday, as Baseball America named the Tampa native a First Team All-American.
Dempsey earned the honor as a two-way player. "Not only did Dempsey pitch his way to a 1.97 ERA—the second-lowest mark in the country—but he also hit .309/.393/.435 with 23 extra-base hits, 30 RBIs and 14 stolen bases," the publication said. "His pitching numbers are even more impressive considering 10 of his 15 appearances were starts. Across 68 2/3 innings, Dempsey collected 75 strikeouts and walked 20."
The 2025 John Olerud Award winner, presented by the College Baseball Foundation to the nation's top two-way player, Dempsey has now earned two First Team All-American honors this season. He was also named a First Team All-American and the top two-way player by Perfect Game Collegiate. Additionally, he was selected as a Second Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
